My Story

Hey there! I'm Brandon, and I’m excited to share my journey with you. This blog is all about where I’ve been, what I’ve learned, and how my passions for technology, business, health, and travel have shaped who I am today. It’s a bit like a timeline, giving you insight into the different chapters of my life and career. So, here’s a look at how I got to where I am now.

The Early Years: A Passion for Technology

Ever since I was young, I’ve been fascinated by technology. Like many others, it all started with video games. What began as a simple interest in gaming soon turned into a desire to understand how these worlds were created. I originally thought I wanted to be a game developer, but over time, my focus shifted to a broader interest in programming and computer science.

Education: Laying the Foundation

I pursued this passion academically at DePaul University, where I graduated in 2019 with a degree in Computer Science, focusing specifically on Software Engineering. My time at DePaul not only solidified my technical skills but also fueled my curiosity for solving real-world problems through technology.

The First Job: Starting at State Farm

After college, I took my first job as a Software Developer at State Farm. It was a great starting point, and I gained valuable experience building software for large-scale systems. But deep down, I knew I had bigger goals in mind. I always dreamed of working for one of the top tech companies, the "FAANG" companies (Facebook, Apple, Amazon, Netflix, Google). I set my sights on that, and I was determined to make it happen.

Amazon: The Dream Job

Fast forward to 2021—I got my big break. I joined Amazon as a Software Engineer, and it’s been a journey I’m proud of ever since. At Amazon, I’ve had the opportunity to work on many large-scale, high-impact projects, particularly in the seller space. I’ve built systems capable of handling tens of thousands of transactions per second (TPS), created services that power Amazon’s massive ecosystem, and developed internal tooling to optimize and streamline our development process.

Leadership and Teamwork

Beyond just coding, my role at Amazon has evolved into leadership. I’ve had the privilege of acting as a team lead, helping to shape a more efficient engineering team. Through this experience, I've not only honed my technical skills but also developed a passion for leadership, mentorship, and building strong, collaborative teams.

Broader Passions: Technology Meets Business, Health, and Travel

While I’ve been deeply immersed in the tech world, my passions have expanded beyond just coding. I've developed an interest in business, leadership, organization, and optimization—all of which play a huge role in how I approach projects at Amazon. Additionally, I’ve grown passionate about health and fitness, constantly seeking ways to stay physically and mentally sharp in the fast-paced world of tech. And of course, when I need a break, I’ve also developed a love for travel, exploring new places and finding inspiration from different cultures.
